Sobovinsky, Kampelmacher, and Pohoryles

While you may be celebrating the 75th anniversary of The Ticker, I am celebrating my 50th anniversary as sports editor of The Ticker. (My name during college was Ralph Sobovinsky, which I changed to Ralph Stevens in 1960.)

While I was sports editor, two of the writers on the paper who gravitated toward sports were Stewart Kampelmacher (who changed his name to Kampel) and Lou Pohoryles. We used to proclaim that our sports department consisted of "Sobovinsky, Kampelmacher, and Pohoryles." Say that fast five times.

—RALPH STEVENS ('57)
