In Memoriam

victor besso

Baruch College Fund Trustee Emeritus VICTOR BESSO ('47) died in November. The retired president of PTC Partners and the executive VP of Intsel and PUK, he was awarded the French Légion d'Honneur in 1978. Besso had a distinguished career as an international trader and spoke many languages. His last gift to the College was in support of international programs and internships. According to Vice President for College Advancement Chris Cloud, "Victor Besso never lost faith in his alma mater. Through 60 years, Victor was an unwavering and committed advocate of the transformative impact of a Baruch College education. Victor had an enormous impact on the creation and reputation of The Baruch College Fund. He is missed." Besso is survived by his wife, Nidia; his children Janet, Vida, Carol, and Daisy; and four grandchildren.

MARIAN BECK SCHULTZ ('64) died in February after a six-month fight against esophageal cancer. She and her husband, Larry, lived in Michigan, where they raised three children, Michael, Harold, and Deborah. Schultz's degree in accounting was put to good use in managing the family portfolio, but her professional life was devoted to insurance: she worked as a Prudential agent for several years. Though she endured several illnesses, she lived an active life. A scholarship in her name has been established at Baruch.
