THE SWEEET REWARDS OF STUDYING
![]() |
It just might be the most visited place
on campus. It's the William and Anita
Newman Library, which welcomed its
10-millionth visitor on Feb. 3. (The library
opened its doors in fall 1994.) The lucky
10-millionth visitor, Sandra Younger, a
part-time undergraduate, received a
$1,000 gift
certificate to
the College
bookstore.
Other winners
included five
students who
aced the
Newman
Library Trivia Quiz, each netting an Apple
iPhone. The celebration was the culmination
of a many-week countdown. "We are
particularly proud of the 10-Millionth
Visitor Countdown," said Professor Arthur
Downing, head librarian and the College's
chief information officer, "because it is a
celebration of how the library, as a place,
plays a central role in student life." All
attendees of the official party on Feb. 8
were treated to festive cupcakes.
