When I was a senior at Hunter College High School, I decided that after being in a female high school for four years, I needed a change to an all-male school. September 1936 was the first term that women were admitted to the day session of City downtown (later Baruch College). The ratio was unique and irresistible: 75 women to 2,000 men.

I met Joe in an education course in 1938. It was the last class of the day, and since we both used the Lexington Avenue Woodlawn branch of the subway, we ended up traveling together. One thing led to another, we graduated in June 1940, and were married on February 8, 1942. Joe was drafted seven months later, in September. He became an officer in 1944, and was discharged in early 1946.

Joe became a CPA and I became a mother! When our children started school, I resumed my business career part-time. In 1970 we started scuba diving, a most enjoyable experience. However, after fourteen years and 400 dives, an ear problem forced me to give it up. Joe received a silver bowl from Jacques Cousteau for winning an underwater slide contest.

Last February we celebrated our 64th wedding anniversary, and we owe it all to CCNY. Long may she thrive!!!!!
