A sampling of books by Baruch faculty that have been published or are scheduled for publication in 2006:
The Entrepreneurial Conversation: The Powerful Way to Create Mutually Beneficial Long-Term Business Relationships (Pinnacle Books) by Edward Rogoff, professor of management at Baruch and director of the Field Center for Entrepreneurship, and sales executive Michael Corbett, with Perry-Lynn Moffitt. A primer on effective business conversations, this book has been compared to Dale Carnegie’s classic How to Win Friends and Influence People. The authors argue that, despite the proliferation of new modes of communication, there is nothing as dynamic and powerful as a conversation, which is the seed of every entrepreneurial venture.
The Equity Trader Course (John Wiley & Sons) by Robert A. Schwartz, the Marvin M. Speiser Professor of Finance and University Distinguished Professor at Baruch; Reto Francioni, president and chairman of the board of SWX; and Bruce Weber, associate professor of information management at the London Business School and former director of Baruch’s Wasserman Trading Floor/Subotnick Financial Services Center. Intended for professional and serious independent traders, this comprehensive guide to equity trading is accompanied by simulated-trading software that gives readers hands-on experience with the concepts covered in the book.
Fighting for Our Lives: New York’s AIDS Community and the Politics of Disease (Rutgers University Press) by Susan M. Chambre, professor of sociology at Baruch. Due to be published in September, this 25-year social history of New York City’s AIDS community focuses on how diverse groups affected by the disease joined forces to support the cause in the face of inadequate responses from government and the health care community.
