17th Annual Bernard Baruch Dinner Raises Significant
Funds for the College

The elegant Cipriani 42nd Street was the site of this year’s annual Bernard Baruch Dinner, the 17th in the history of Baruch College. The dinner, which attracted more than 500 guests, raised over $1 million. Besides an occasion to pay tribute to the College’s namesake—Bernard M. Baruch (class of 1889), statesman, financier, and devoted alumnus—the dinner honors some of the College’s contemporary supporters. The Distinguished Alumnus Award was presented to Max W. Berger (’68), founding and senior managing partner of Bernstein Litowitz Berger & Grossmann LLP, a firm of 50 attorneys where Berger has dedicated his professional career to protecting the victims of corporate wrongdoing. The Baruch Medal for Business and Civic Leadership went to Stephen B. Siegel (DCSc [Hon.] ’03), chairman, Global Brokerage, CB Richard Ellis, Inc., recently named by Crain’s New York Business as one of the 100 most influential business leaders in New York City. Gretchen Morgenson, Pulitzer Prize–winning business reporter and columnist for the New York Times, hosted the event.
