Sydney Fields, CPA, is still a practicing accountant at age 83. In 2002, he was ranked in the top 10 of the U.S. Tennis Association’s Eastern Division for age 80 and over.

Harriet Morris retired from teaching business subjects in the Bellmore-Merrick (Long Island) Secondary School District. She divides her time between Freeport, L.I., and Delray Beach, Fla.

Former marketing research director Aaron Strauss and his wife, Diane, are enjoying retirement by spending seven months of the year in Florida.

Milton Kleinman is chairman emeritus of the Passaic Beth Israel Hospital Board of Trustees and past president of the Daughters of Miriam Center Board of Trustees. In May 2002, Felix Pomeranz retired as professor of accounting from Florida International University.

Vincent V. Amato (MBA ’58) has set up the Web site Imadeadifference.com, which informs visitors of the unselfish acts people perform every day. Gilbert King, who has three children and two grandsons, recently retired as Warnaco Corp.’s VP of marketing/sales. He is currently the president of both Baruch in Florida and the Class of 1951. In his spare time, he plays tennis, goes to the health club, bikes, and is a volunteer driver for cancer patients.

Murray Kaufman, founder/director for 23 years of Rain Home Attendant Services, retired in July 2002. The agency provides home care to over 1,000 clients.

Philip Gittelman’s company, PGP Inc., is a communications production company that has created hundreds of television programs and Web sites on business, industry, health, science, and the arts. Gittelman is a recent recipient of the Baruch alumni Outstanding Achievement Award. His works are in the museum archives of the Smithsonian Institution, the Metropolitan Museum, and the Museum of Modern Art. Arthur S. Golnick is the commander of Three Village Post No. 336 of the Jewish War Veterans of the U.S.A., meeting in Port Jefferson Station, N.Y.

Lawrence J. Levy retired from JPMorgan Chase in 2002. He is now president of LJL Associates, a marketing and advertising consulting firm.

In April 2002, Arthur Knour made a presentation at a seminar sponsored by the Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office of Victims Advocacy in Atlantic City. His talk dealt with the provision of psychological services to the members of the NYPD in the aftermath of 9/11. In March 2002, Anita Shaw (MBA ’66) won the Vero Beach (Fla.) Art Club’s Award for Best in Show Acrylics Overall at the 51st annual Under the Oaks art show. Barbara Yospe, recently retired as president of Baruch in Florida, was honored at a luncheon in Boca Raton for her many years of service to the alumni chapter.

Helene M. Glasser Fink is founder and president of Propat International Corp., which licenses technology throughout the world. She has been married to husband David (VP of Propat) for 39 years; they have two daughters and five grandsons.

Richard J. Lenehan is retired and pursuing his musical avocation as a songwriter for Zing-A-Gram Inc. in Albany, N.Y. He is president of the Electric City Chorus-Barbershop Group in Schenectady, the producer of the 2002 season for the Not So Common Players of Clifton Park, and a member of the funeral choir of St. Ambrose Roman Catholic Church in Latham. Eugene Silvester (MBA) has been an adjunct professor at St. John’s University in Jamaica, N.Y., since 1992.

In August 2002, Richard A. Kassar (CPA) was appointed to the board of directors of Velocity Express Corporation, a provider of customized, time-critical logistics solutions. Kassar is senior VP and CFO of the Meow Mix Company.

Domingo Otero was recently promoted to circulation director of the Evening Journal Association, where he is responsible for one daily newspaper (The Jersey Journal) and four weekly newspapers. In 2002, he won the men’s air rifle senior (over 45) national championship for the second year in a row.

Manuel Kursky (MBA) is a deputy superintendent of banks with the New York State Banking Department. He has been with the regulatory agency for 32 years and currently heads the department’s Division of Supervision. He lives with his wife and two sons in West Orange, N.J.

Avi Duvdevani (MBA), recently appointed chief information officer at the New York City Housing Authority, has 28 years of experience in IT planning, management, and client services. He was a founding member of N.Y.C.’s Department of Information Technology and Telecommunications (DoITT) and has been the agency’s deputy commissioner since 1998. He has also served as executive director of New York’s Office of New Media, the organization behind the city’s Web presence (NYC.gov) and continues to be part of its executive board.

Sylvia Clark is assistant professor of marketing at Tobin College of Business, St. John’s University, Staten Island. In July 2002, Carmine Grastataro was promoted from senior VP to president of RKS Research & Consulting in Clearwater, Fla. The 29-year-old company designs and conducts market research and public opinion polling for energy and natural resources clients. Edward G. Jones (MBA) is a senior director of Enterprise Financial Services at Nextel Communications in N.Y.C. He is also an adjunct faculty member at NYU’s School of Continuing and Professional Studies, where he teaches an MBA fundamentals course. Eric Lloyd Kesselman is VP and director of marketing of the Kearny (N.J.) Federal Savings Bank. Previously, he served as VP and product manager at Fleet Boston (Summit Bank).

Dale Oliver, an associate staff analyst for the Administration for Children’s Services, is currently awaiting certification. Michael Sheehan, VP for production at the Wall Street Journal, has been named to the board of directors of the Princeton Packet.

Steve Moskowitz is director of marketing at Impact Confections, a candy company based in Colorado. He manufactures, distributes, and markets a variety of candy nationally, most notably lollipops. He also teaches a night course in marketing at the University of Colorado. Catherine A. Papayiannis (MBA ’87) is executive VP and COO of Carver Bancorp Inc., the holding company for Carver Federal Savings Bank, the largest independent African-American- and Caribbean-American-run financial institution in the U.S.

In June 2002, Carmen Torrent was appointed executive director of the N.Y.C. Commission on Women’s Issues by Mayor Michael Bloomberg. Prior to that, she was an assistant attorney general in the New York State Department of Law.

Brown-Nevers (MSEd ’90), executive director of Columbia University’s Health Sciences Division, was granted the President’s Award on June 13, 2002, from the New York State Organization of Bursars and Business Administrators. Christopher A. Cacace is the partner in charge of the theatrical and entertainment practice of Rosenberg Neuwirth and Kuchner, CPAs. Gil Dulberg joined International Assets in 1996 and currently provides wealth management services and investment management advice to more than 400 domestic and international corporate and individual clients. He is a member of the Board of Directors of the American-Israel Chamber of Commerce for the State of Florida and a member of the International Round Table in Orlando. In July 2002, Michael J. Getzler joined Sterling Bancorp as executive VP and corporate secretary, responsible for leading its legal department. Prior to that, he was senior VP and managing attorney at Dime Bancorp.

In September 2002, Joseph Bellina joined Macklowe Properties as senior VP of operations and engineering. Previously, he served as VP of Mendik Realty Company. In April 2002, Rev. James Gigantiello was installed as pastor of Mary Queen of Heaven Church in Brooklyn, N.Y. Reverend Gigantiello, who was made an honorary chaplain of the NYPD for his work at Ground Zero after 9/11, is the youngest pastor in the parish’s 75-year history. Dino Martin was promoted to senior VP of store operations for Zany Brainy Retail Stores (a division of FAO Inc.) in February 2002. Jerald E. Pinto (MBA) co-authored Analysis of Equity Investments: Valuation (2002), which has become part of the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) program curriculum.

In August 2002, Seth Adler was named regional director of sales for Riverhead Networks, a provider of solutions for Internet-based-threat Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS). Previously, Adler was northeastern regional sales manager at Cisco Systems. James R. Davis (MS) is an adjunct assistant professor at both St. Peter’s College in Jersey City and John Jay College of Criminal Justice in N.Y.C. John Padovano (MBA ’88) is network and Internet systems manager for an international women’s health nonprofit.

In March 2002, Courtney A. Boothe became branch manager of Carver Federal Savings Bank in N.Y.C. Michael R. Royce is president of the Pennsylvania Station Redevelopment Corporation, the group in charge of the station’s expansion. The completion of this high-profile project is set for 2008.

Egemen Bagis was elected to serve as president of Federation of Turkish American Associations, which represents 600,000 Turkish Americans. Clive Fernando is currently involved in corporate development for a technology services firm in N.Y.C. focusing on enterprise business systems and services. The Public Relations Society of America (PRSA) recently hired Jennifer A. Ian (MBA) as its member services director. Previously, she was director, marketing and membership, for the New York Society of Security Analysts.

Rachna Bari is a VP at the Bank of Tokyo-Mitsubishi Ltd. in N.Y.C. Jonathan B. Justice (MPA) is working toward a PhD at Rutgers University. Akinwale O. Olandapo (MBA) is president of Quantum Information Systems Inc., a consulting firm specializing in software development and employee relations. Laura Osman joined N.Y.C.-based Concord International Investments in 1996 and became partner in 1999. She chairs the Strategy Committee of the Arab Bankers Association and recently published an article on the Egyptian mutual fund industry in the Financial Times International Financial Adviser.

Jesse D. Lewis (MBA) heads the Corporate Planning Group at Toyota Tsusho America, Inc., the international trading and investment arm of Toyota. Recently, his wife gave birth to a baby girl. Nancy J. Sparacio, staff accountant at Most Horowitz and Co., LLP, received CPA certification in March 2002. Following a two-year teaching career, Jeffrey Woo is currently an assistant supervisor for New York Security Courier Inc. He also serves as a lieutenant in the U.S. Air Force Auxiliary and a sergeant in the New York Guard.

Larisa Yeshcherkina has been a business analyst for Merrill Lynch since July 2001.
