Judge Bernard Feuer, a member of the first graduating class of the “23rd Street Branch” of City College, has published his autobiography. Third Lieutenant (1st Books Library) describes his early life on New York’s Lower East Side, his student days in the late ’20s, and his experiences in the U.S. and Europe.

Anne Bender (MS ’39) has officially retired after 32 years of teaching but continues to volunteer at the Brooklyn College Institute for Retired Professionals. She is also a member of the Community Committee at the Brooklyn Museum. Abraham J. Briloff (MS ’41) was named to Accounting Today’s “Top 100 Most Influential People” list for 2001.

Retired accounting teacher Blanche P. Kogan is a member of American University Women.

Retired CPA Stanley Grey remains active as trustee of the North Shore L.I.J. Health System and serves on three committees. He is also an avid golfer. Raymond H. Phillips is currently chair of the N.Y.C. office of SCORE (Service Corps of Retired Executives), which offers free business counseling under the U.S. Small Business Administration. Benjamin Podgor moved to Atlanta, Ga., from Massapequa Park, N.Y., in July 2001.

Retired Adelphi University professor Leon Lebensbaum is currently practicing tax law after working as a special agent of the IRS criminal division specializing in tax fraud.

Stanley Rothman, who lives in Boca Raton, Fla., was a general agent in insurance in N.Y.C. for over 40 years.

Maxine L. Baden (MBA), who has two married children and five grandchildren, is an owner and office manager of a promotional products distribution company operated by her son and son-in-law.

Ruth Geller (MBA ’83) has retired from teaching at California State University. She has three children, who are practicing doctors. Morton L. Mann is a property and casualty insurance accounting columnist for the Insurance Accounting and Systems Association (IASA).

Lila R. Mussman recently retired from her career in human resources with the Internal Revenue Service and is available as a consultant to nonprofit organizations in the Tampa, Fla., area.

Robert S. Nadel has been elected president of HR/NY, the New York chapter of the Society of Human Resource Management. He is also president of Nadel Consulting/HR Spectrum, Inc., a management consulting firm with offices in New York, Pittsburgh, and Chicago.

Chair of the Department of Accounting, Taxation, and Law at the Brooklyn campus of Long Island University, Dr. Myrna L. Fischman (MS ’64) was elected president of the Brooklyn chapter of the N.Y.S. Society of CPAs for the year 2001–2002. Jesse D. Geller is currently an associate clinical
professor at Columbia Teachers College. In 2002, he and his wife
celebrate their 40th anniversary. They have two children.

Chairman and CEO of Stat-A-Matrix, Inc., Stanley A. Marash (MBA ’70) was granted the E. Jack Lancaster Award by the American Society for Quality in recognition of his 41 years as a quality professional.

Hoberman, shareholder and director of the Woodbridge, N.J., law firm Wilentz, Goldman & Spitzer, was recently installed as secretary of the New Jersey State Bar Association (NJSBA). He also serves as a trustee for the New Jersey State Bar Foundation, the NJSBA’s philanthropic arm, of which he is immediate past

The Fiduciary Trust Company International has named Michael J. Materasso executive VP and head of its Fixed Income Department. Previously department co-head, Materasso will continue to manage institutional portfolios in addition to serving on the firm’s top management committees.

Poughkeepsie CPA Vincent C. Pangia has been admitted to practice before the U.S. Tax Court after passing a rigorous exam, an accomplishment only 10 percent of test takers achieve. Pangia is also a
certified fraud examiner and business valuation expert. Leonard R. Rosenblatt is a tax attorney specializing in tax crimes, penalties, and frauds. His most recent article, “Tax Evasion Sentences Enhanced for Concealment,” appeared in the New Jersey Law Journal of 13 August 2001.

Stuart Hirschhorn is director of research at Catalina Research Inc., in Boca Raton, Fla. He received his MLS degree in 1995 from C.W. Post College of Long Island University. Jose A. Rodriguez is a life member of the New York Road Runners Club, an endowment member of the National Rifle Association, and a U.S.A. Track and Field certified official at the association level.

After graduation, Christine Ann Gebhardt (Nowak) (MSEd) worked first as a producer then as managing director of a news service at WPIX TV (now WB-11) in N.Y.C. Pinto (MBA) co-authored Quantitative Methods for Investment Management (2001), which has become part of the CFA program curriculum. During 2002–2003, he will be a visiting scholar at AIMR (Association for Investment Management and Research) in Charlottesville, Va.

Sotomayor (MPA), a teacher at PS 67 (The Charles Dorsey School) in Brooklyn, was recently awarded a MetLife Fellowship in the National Teacher Policy Institute. She is one of 85 public school educators across the country chosen to participate in the institute’s mission to link educational policy with actual classroom practice.

Founder of the Actuarial Society and recipient of the Becker Family Scholarship when at Baruch, Martin Migliara is currently a managing director with Bear Stearns in London.

Greg Krikorian, a strategy consultant for Accenture, recently started his own business, an underground dance music label. Michael Adam Parizman was married to Lori Gaye Turk in November 2001. Parizman, an associate in the private banking sector of J.P. Morgan Chase, and Turk, a health teacher at Brooklyn Technical High School, met as 8-year-olds at P.S. 222 in Brooklyn. Karla Paz, a recruiting manager at Deloitte
& Touche, recently earned certification as a professional in human resources (PHR).

marketing for Citibank in Long Island City, N.Y., was married to David Michael Kurtz, VP of sales for Affiliated Computer Services.
In November 2001, Howard J. Klein (MS), CPA, was named officer of the New Jersey firm Amper, Politziner & Mattia. Kai Foo Tan became a Canadian citizen in February 2001 and has joined State Street Canada as a financial analyst. Nancy Yung, an import manager for KSK International in New York City, was married to Paul Gerard Dorflinger, a VP at U.S. Trust, in November 2001.

After receiving a BBA in accounting, Ismail Nishanbayev returned to his native Kazakhstan (former Soviet Union) to an assistant’s position at KPMG. In May 2001, he accepted a position as CFO with Andas Altyn LLP, a junior gold mining company in eastern Kazakhstan.

Rawls (MPA), pastor of the Higher Life Church in Orange, N.J., was recently engaged to Ellisa K. Clark, a teacher trainer at Babyland Family Services and the owner of Genesis Learning Place in Irvington, N.J. Angela Roggerman works for iDeutsch, the interactive department of Deutsch Inc. advertising agency. She is the assistant interactive media planner/buyer on the Verizon, SuperPages.com, and Snapple accounts. Robert C. Sloane (MBA) recently started his own business, OptiMarket LLC, which counsels senior executives in career transition. Ronald P. Wilson is an accountant/consultant for RHI Management Resources. His plans include graduate school and sitting for the CPA exam.

Paul T. Burns (MS), a financial advisor with Merrill Lynch, looks forward to a doctoral program in finance. Josephine Menzies, an auditor with the office of the inspector general for audit of the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, sat for the CPA exam in May 2002. Jessie Tam works for a CPA firm and intends to take the exam in November 2002. Amelia Turner, the first in her family to graduate from college, is working for Deloitte & Touche.
