"The challenge of the frontier lay in the opportunity it provided for a new start in life. Essentially that is the challenge embodied by a public college like Baruch . . . The simple fact of our students being here bears witness to the fact that the spirit of the American frontier still lives . . . Baruch comes far closer to giving reality to the American dream than better-known colleges and universities."
From "Where the Frontier Still Lives," an address given by Bernard M. Baruch on Oct. 8, 1953, in the presence of students, faculty, alumni, and many distinguished guests who had gathered to celebrate the naming of the school in his honor.
Beginning with Bernard M. Baruch's gift of $9 million in 1965, the College has flourished through the generosity of its many friends.

Inspired by Bernard M. Baruch's gift, The Baruch College Fund (BCF) was founded in 1970 as a nonprofit organization whose purpose is to promote the educational welfare of the students of Baruch College. Gifts to The Baruch College Fund bridge the gap between the actual cost of educating students and the funds provided by tuition and by New York State. Your unrestricted gift enables us to provide support where it is most needed: to recruit and retain outstanding faculty; promote new and ongoing research; support scholarships, career placement services, improved facilities and technology; and create new academic initiatives and programs.
The Fund has two leadership giving societies: the Baruch Fellows and the Bernard Baruch Society. The Fellows Program is for donors who make unrestricted annual gifts of $5,000 or more. Fellows play a leadership role at the College through a variety of campus and classroom programs. The President's Circle is reserved for Fellows who make annual gifts of $20,000 and above. The Bernard Baruch Society has been newly formed for donors of annual gifts ranging from $1,000 to $4,999.
The Baruch College Fund encourages all donors to become involved with the College as volunteers. Many opportunities are open to friends and alumni, including mentoring, serving on advisory boards or committees, and participating in the annual telefund drive.
