Public Management and the Lindsay Years

The first day’s program will focus on the
introduction of analysis and data to improve the delivery of public
services. These innovations brought together a variety of disciplines
addressing both the policy formulation as well as implementing change in
agency culture and practice. Specific topics are: innovations
introduced by Fred Hayes in the Bureau of the Budget; the NYC
Productivity Program; the challenge of allocating limited resources to
growing demand for service in Fire, Police and Sanitation Departments;
and the recruitment of talent to the City through the establishment of
Talent Search.

Dale Landi; Ilene Leff; Stan Litow; Jerry Mechling; Steve Savas; and

*Wednesday’s sessions will conclude at 5 pm and will be followed by a reception and tour of the exhibition America’s Mayor: John V. Lindsay and the Reinvention of New York at the Museum of the City of New York. Free coach transportation will be provided—must be requested during RSVP.
