International Student Service Center
In the Spring of 2006 Baruch's School of Continuing and Professional Studies, in conjunction with the Zicklin School of Business began offering new menu of customized English language support courses, specially designed to meet the needs of graduate business students. These new mini- courses replace COM 8191 (Spoken English for International Students) and ENG 8192 (Written English for INternational Students), and include an integration of business content, technology and relevant business language skills.
The goal of this program is to ensure that all students entering the Zicklin School of Business have the English language proficiency neccesary to succeed in their graduate courses and professional careers.
All entering students whose first language is not English, or who do not have a US undergraduate or graduate degree will be screened just prior to the first day of classes. The screening will determine which, if any, of our English language modules the students need to take.
The modules being offered are:
- Writing for Business
- Oral Communication for Business
- Grammar Troubleshooting
- American English Pronunciation
Any students required to take ABE program will be screened as part of that program.
