Frequently Asked IRB Manager Questions

1. What happens if I can not log into IRB Manager?

After three unsuccessful login tries, IRB Manager will lock you out of the system. Please contact the Administrator who can reset your password and unlock your account and see if there are any problems with your username or password.

2. What if I submitted an application between 2006 - present and am submitting an on-line application for the first time and can't log in?

If you've submitted an application between 2006-present and can not log into the system, please contact the administrator.

Do not create a new username/password as this new username/password will not be connected with the previous applications you've submitted.

3. Do you have a listing of all of the questions on the on-line form?

Yes, please note that PI's will not be asked to answer all questions but questions pertaining to the specific type of research being conducted. Please click here for a list of all of the IRB questions.

4. I'm a PI that has submitted an application to IRB between 2006 - present, is there a record of all the protocols I've submitted?

When you log onto IRB Manager, your homepage will list every application you are associated with in the system. If a protocol is missing and it was submitted between 2006-present, please contact the IRB Administrator.

5. Why do I have to complete an on-line form instead of the old form?

CUNY now requires that all PI's submit an on-line form using the IRB Manager system. The old form will no longer be accepted. 6. Can I print out copies of applications, consent forms, and approval letters from IRB Manager?

Yes, beginning in May 2010, stamped consent forms and signed letters are being uploaded to IRB Manager. All applications, consent forms, and approval letters are under attachments and can be printed out. Click here for directions on how to download and print documents from IRB Manager.

7. Can anyone other than me see the applications I've submitted on IRB Manager?

Other than a PI's designated key personnel, HRPP Staff, Members, and CUNY Central officials have access to applications on IRB Manager. If you have concerns about access to your applications, please contact the administrator.

8. Will I be able to submit amendments and continuing reviews via IRB Manager?

CUNY is currently in the process of creating on-line applications for continuing reviews and amendments. There will be a campus-wide announcement when these forms go on-line.
