The City of Mesa’s Management Associate Program is designed for promising professionals that are interested in a career in public service. This is a permanent position that provides career development in local government while allowing individuals to develop and strengthen professional skills. This multi-year program is an opportunity to gain valuable experience in local government management and finance. Management Associates start in the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) helping to develop and manage the components of the City’s budget. After one to two years in OMB, Management Associates spend the next two years rotating through various City departments and providing management assistance. Successful completion of the program will result in placement of the Management Associate into another position within the City.

Award / Eligibility Details:

Eligible candidates must possess a Master’s Degree in Public Administration and be available to begin employment by mid-June of the year of application. The City typically hires 1-2 management associates each year. Applications are accepted through January with interviews taking place in February or March. Management associates will generally start work sometime between April and June. Management Associates have a starting salary of $49,099. Management Associates are eligible to participate in the City of Mesa’s benefit program which includes medical, dental, and vision insurance, and more.
