American Research Institute in Turkey Summer Fellowship

The American Research in Turkey (ARIT) summer language program offers about 15 fellowships each year to cover round-trip airfare to Istanbul, application and tuition fees, and a maintenance stipend to support eight weeks of intensive advanced study of Turkish language and culture at Boğaziçi University in Istanbul. This intensive program offers the equivalent of one full academic year of study in Turkish at the college level.

Award / Eligibility Details:

In addition to formal class study, participants also attend extracurricular activities including films, lectures, and cultural events both on- and off-campus. Applicants must be full-time undergraduate graduate students with a minimum of B average in program of study or advanced scholars and also must be U.S. citizens or permanent residents. ARIT fellowship supported courses are offered at the advanced level, so applicants must also perform at the high-intermediate level on a proficiency-based admissions examination.
