Scheduling Grid
Last updated on 7/28/04Designations for sections of classes contain information on the days and times those sections meet. Instructions on how to interpret these designations follow, with information about the time grid, days offered, multiple sections of courses, and club hours. These instructions begin with courses offered during the DAY. For EVENING classes, which are designated differently, see the bottom of this page.
Time Grid for DAY Classes
These are the 25-minute blocks from which the schedule is built. For example, a class designated BD24 will include blocks B through D, and will run from 7:50 a.m. to 9:05 a.m. on the second and fourth days of the week (see below for more information on the code for days of the week).
A = 7:25 to 7:50 a.m.
B = 7:50 to 8:15
C = 8:15 to 8:40
D = 8:40 to 9:05
E = 9:05 to 9:30
F = 9:30 to 9:55
G = 9:55 to 10:20
H = 10:20 to 10:45
J = 10:45 to 11:10
K = 11:10 to 11:35
L = 11:35 to 12:00 p.m.
M = 12:00 to 12:25
O = 12:25 to 12:50
P = 12:50 to 1:15
Q = 1:15 to 1:40
R = 1:40 to 2:05
S = 2:05 to 2:30
T = 2:30 to 2:55
U = 2:55 to 3:20
V = 3:20 to 3:45
W = 3:45 to 4:10
X = 4:10 to 4:35
Y = 4:35 to 5:00
Z = 5:00 to 5:25
Days Offered
As part of the scheduling grid, each course is identified by a one or two digit number to indicate the days of the week (e.g. BD24 designates a class that meets on Tuesdays and Thursdays, the second and fourth days of the week). If a course is scheduled to meet one or two days a week, the appropriate numbers identifying the days will be used. If a course is scheduled to meet three or more days a week, a single or double digit code is used (e.g. 7 designates a class that meets on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays).
1 = Monday
2 = Tuesday
3 = Wednesday
4 = Thursday
5 = Friday
6 = Saturday
7 = Monday, Tuesday, Thursday
8 = Monday, Wednesday, Thursday
9 = Monday, Wednesday, Friday
10 = Monday through Thursday
11 = Tuesday, Thursday, Friday
Multiple Sections of a Course
If there are to be multiple sections of a course at a given time, each section is identified by a letter code beginning with "A" (e.g. EG13A). "A" represents the first section offered at a given time; "B" indicates the second section offered at the same time; "C" the third, etc.
Club Hours
Club hours designates the period during which no classes may be scheduled. They take place on Thursday afternoons from 12:25 to 2:30 p.m. Thus, no classes can be scheduled to end on Thursday after 12:25 p.m., nor can a class be scheduled to begin on Thursday afternoon before 2:30 p.m.
EVENING CLASSES
Evening classes may be offered on Monday and Wednesday (MW) or Tuesday and Thursday (TR). The times slots are not as rigid as those for the day. There are three evening sessions, starting at 5:40, 7:35, and 9:00 p.m. But classes within each session need not start at exactly the same time. For example, a class in the first slot may begin at 5:40 (54) or 6:00 (6). Thus, a class that meets on Tuesday and Thursdays and begins at 7:35 will be designated TR73.
