Mission
Statement
Department of English
Last updated on 10/07/2002
In a predominantly business college where most of our students graduate with the professional B.B.A. degree, the faculty in the Department of English is committed to the belief that all Baruch students should receive, insofar as possible, a humanistic education. A major mission is helping to ensure that the students in our required freshman writing and sophomore Great Works courses learn the skills in reading, writing, and critical thinking that are essential for educated citizens and leaders in business and the professions. A second mission is providing the best possible education in literature and film for our majors and minors. A third mission is providing the best possible education in journalism and creative writing for our majors and minors in journalism/creative writing and business journalism.
