About Zagat Survey
Nina and Tim Zagat established Zagat Survey for New York City Restaurants in 1979 as a hobby. Zagat Survey now offers guides to dining in 83 major markets and guides for lodging and leisure. Zagat Survey has developed business relationships with over 3,000 companies, including Citigroup, Merrill Lynch, and Verizon. In 1999, with an infusion of $31 million of venture capital, Zagat Survey moved to online voting, developed a sophisticated digital content management system, and launched zagat.com. Zagat.com was one of the first profit-making subscription-based sites. More than 250,000 voters participate worldwide. The company is expanding into new US and international markets, leisure categories, and additional platforms for content, including its web and wireless ventures.
