HIS 1005 Modern American History
3.0 Hours; 3.0 Credits

This course surveys United States history from the post--Civil War years to recent times. Topics include Reconstruction, industrialization, the growth of the United States as a world power, the prosperous Twenties, the depressed Thirties, and the issues and events of the decades since World War II.

Baruch Common Core (for students who entered Baruch prior to Fall 2013): This course satisfies the Tier II History requirement.

CUNY Pathways at Baruch (for students who entered Baruch Fall 2013 or later, or who “opt-in” to CUNY Pathways): This course satisfies the “U.S. Experience in its Diversity” requirement of the Flexible Core.

It is recommended that students who have a strong background in American history take HIS 2050 or 2053, or HIS 1001 or 1003.

Prerequisite or Corequisite: ENG 2100 or equivalent.
