E-Waste Procedures
The discarding of e-waste is now being handled by the Department of
Environmental Health and Safety under Campus Facilities and Operations.
The procedure is as follows:
Anyone that wishes to discard e-waste (computers, electronics, radios, video
equipment, batteries [NiCad, Metal Hydride, lead acid, etc], copiers, etc), please
e-mail or fax the following:
- list of equipment with Baruch bar codes (if none, write none)
- location of equipment
- department
- contact person
- The e-waste will first be approved by BCTC for disposal
- Waste will be de-inventoried by property management
- Waste will be removed by Buildings and Grounds and packaged for pick-up
- Waste is transported to a reuse and recycling facility by an outside contractor
We will try to remove your equipment in a timely manner, but due to the involvement of various departments, there may be, at times, some unforeseen delay. Please be assured that we are doing our utmost to keep the process running smoothly
Any questions about the procedures or material to discard, please call Fran Erlitz at ext. 6048.
Thank you for your cooperation in this matter
