Training![]()
The Peers for Careers training program is structured into two tiers. During Tier One, students participate in a semester long training where they learn about resume and business letter writing, career exploration and the operations of the Starr Career Development Center. Peers who meet performance standards of Tier One, may then go on to receive additional training as a Tier 2 Peer, to learn Mock Interviewing and workshop facilitation.
Role of a Tier One Peer![]()
Tier One Peers provide one-on-one resume reviews, cover letter and thank you letter critiques, advisement on general career exploration, and campus outreach. Peers assist the staff of the Starr Career Development Center (SCDC) with administrative tasks as well as presentations, job fairs, and other career programs. In addition, Tier One Peers receive weekly supervision and mentorship from members of the SCDC Staff.
Role of a Tier Two Peer![]()
Tier Two Peers provide one-on-one videotaped mock interviews, facilitate workshops on behalf of the Starr Career Development Center, and take on co-trainer responsibilities for future trainings. In addition to providing resume, cover letter, and thank you note reviews, they also focus on facilitating mock interview, workshops, and other special programs. Tier Two Peers also receive weekly supervision and mentorship from members of the SCDC Staff.
