Role and Training
The training and selection process are rigorous and competitive
Tier 1
Training
  • Ten ninety minute training sessions
  • Resume, Cover Letter, Thank You Note, and LinkedIn Profile Preparation
  • Challenging Scenarios
  • Developing Interpersonal skills through volunteering at SCDC Job Fairs
  • Shadowing of current Peers
  • Compose a group presentation demonstrating how to write a successful resume
Tier 1 Peer
  • Provide thirty-minute Resume, Thank You Letter, and Cover Letter Critiques
  • Receive weekly supervision from SCDC staff
  • Assist SCDC staff with Administrative Tasks and Presentations
  • Chair and run committees (Facebook, Publicity, Ticker, Blog, Alumni, Philanthropy, and Budget)
  • Work at least 5 hours per week and give 1 additional hour for supervision
Tier 2
  • Provide thirty-minute Resume, Thank You Letter, and Cover Letter Critiques

Training
  • Semester of Service
  • Sixteen-Hour Training Program designed to increase trainees’ competency in interviewing, mock interviewing, and providing constructive coaching and feedback
  • Attend Basic and Advanced Interviewing workshops
Tier 2 Peer
  • Maintain the responsibilities of a Tier I Peer
  • Conduct Hour-long Taped Mock Interviews
  • Conduct Workshops, Co-facilitate trainings, and Moderate Panel Discussions
