Welcome
The mission of the Starr Career Development Center is to provide comprehensive career services to Baruch College undergraduates and to Weissman graduate students. We encourage students to come to the Center from the time they are freshmen through senior year graduation and for selected career services as alumni. The staff of the SCDC is dedicated to assisting students in all aspects of their career development as they make decisions about majors, apply to graduate and law school, prepare for internships and jobs, and develop the soft skills necessary to become successful in their chosen future careers.

Tip of the Week: You may need a writing sample for a job application some day. Consider writing for the Ticker or other publications. A published writing sample is always a great idea.

Faculty
The Starr Career Development Center recognizes the importance of forging partnerships with Baruch faculty to support our students' academic and career development. We have developed various initiatives such as the Starr Sub Program and Invited Presentations to encourage faculty members to utilize our expertise, in order to deepen students' knowledge of their career options and awareness of our career services. The Starr Career Development Center believes a strong connection with our Baruch faculty members will benefit our students in their long term career success. We invite you to contact us if you have any questions or wish to explore ways to collaborate.
Parents
College is the beginning of an exciting new chapter in the lives of both students and parents. Students must adjust to the academic and social demands of college and parents must accept the growing independence of their young adult offspring.

Career development in college begins with establishing good study habits, building relationships with fellow students, and faculty, and identifying and using important college resources like the Starr Career Development Center. Parents should encourage students to visit the Center and to start using STARRSearch, our online career management system. Check out STARR Track on our website at for more information about career development during the college years.
Financial Leadership Program
The Financial Leadership Program (FLP) is the Starr Career Development Center's training initiative focused on preparing students for careers in the financial services industry and other top financial analyst programs. FLP members typically have an average GPA of 3.7 (the minimum requirement is 3.5), demonstrated leadership in internship and extracurricular activities.

Upon successfully completing rigorous training, Peers offer resume/cover letter review appointments, walk-in sessions, video mock interviews, and orientations to the SCDC to students using the services for the first time. Peers also facilitate workshops, co-sponsor programs, spearhead our traveling "Starr Mobile" information cart, and write weekly Career Corner articles in the Ticker. Media
The Media section of SCDC contains both videos and tutorials that are meant to give you a snapshot on career topics. The videos are tips and suggestions from fellow Baruch students on topics from attending career fairs to tying a tie. The tutorials are quick hands-on guides that you can follow along with to learn about a variety of useful resources at your fingertips.
