Representatives from the NYS Department of Taxation and Finance and the IRS will be on campus to speak about their respective agencies, career path and current available opportunities, among other topics.
Presenters:
NYS: Samuel Cohen is a District Audit Manager for the NYS Department of Taxation & Finance- Manhattan since 1996. According to Mr. Cohen, he has hired dozens of Baruch students over the years from similar events.
IRS: Dennis Baptiste and Cliff Kazakauskas are team managers with the Large and Mid-Size Business (LMSB) Division of the IRS. The LMSB is the division of the IRS that audits corporations with assets over 10 million dollars. IRS is hiring as well.
Dress Code: Business attire. Lunch will be served.

Corporate Audit is responsible for performing independent reviews and tests to ensure that appropriate controls over risk are in place and functioning properly throughout Bank of America. Overview:
Corporate Audit maintains robust processes for reviewing risk and controls throughout the Corporation. Corporate Audit seeks associates who have a desire to adapt and learn the multiple businesses of the Corporation. As an intern, you will work closely with the internal auditors and learn the processes of Bank of America. The internship will last approximately 10 - 12 weeks, working a 40 hour work week. Interns will undergo a multi-phase training process including web based training and peer coaching. Now, CUNY undergraduates are invited to submit an essay of 1000-1500 words explaining the science behind the 2009 Nobel prizes - to describe how these concepts are influencing our world today, and to predict the future significance of this research to humanity.

- 2010 Barbara Jordan Health Policy Scholars Program

The Henry J. Kaiser Family Foundation is accepting applications for the 2010 Barbara Jordan Health Policy Scholars Program. This intensive summer program provides college students with an opportunity to work on health policy issues in a congressional office and to engage in original health policy research and analysis under the guidance of Foundation research staff.
College seniors and recent college graduates who have a strong interest in addressing racial and ethnic health disparities or who are themselves a member of a population that is adversely affected by racial and ethnic health disparities are eligible to apply. Selected Scholars will work in congressional offices in Washington, D.C. for 10 weeks and will participate in weekly seminars and site visits designed to increase their understanding of the intersection between health policy and the legislative process. Scholars are expected to write and present a health policy research paper in one of the following research areas: health reform and the uninsured, Medicaid, Medicare or HIV/AIDS.
Eligible candidates must be U.S. citizens who will be seniors or recent graduates of an accredited U.S. college or university in the fall of 2010.
Individuals with an advanced degree and those individuals currently enrolled in an advanced degree program are not eligible to participate.
The Kaiser Family Foundation established the Barbara Jordan Health Policy Scholars Program to honor the legacy of the late U.S. Congresswoman Barbara Jordan - the first African American elected to Congress from Texas and a former well-respected member of the Foundation's board of trustees. Barbara Jordan had a distinguished career exemplified by her tireless advocacy on behalf of vulnerable populations. She brought this passion to her work, inspiring other to become involved in addressing challenging health policy issues. The program is operated in partnership with Howard University.

- The Focus Approach Law Review

Pace Law School has decided, in furtherance of its commitment to diversity, to expand its existing sponsorship of minorities preparing for the Law School Admission Test.
DESCRIPTION
More specifically, three full scholarships will be awarded (each of which is valued at $1,695) to qualified minority candidates who have completed a minimum of 60 undergraduate credits and have a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher. The candidate will be responsible only for materials cost of $100.
The scholarships will enable students to attend a full cycle of LSAT classes offered through The Focus Approach Law Review, in which I am a Principal Attorney. One scholarship will be awarded to a student preparing for the December '09 exam, a second award will be made to a student preparing for the February '10 LSAT, and the third award will be made on behalf of a student preparing for the June '10 exam. PROGRAM
Students will attend Saturday sessions at Pace or Fordham Law School, or Sunday sessions at Touro Law Center or Siena College. Preparation for the December exam commences Saturday, September 26th and Sunday, September 27th. All classes are taught by practicing attorney's with extensive experience in LSAT instruction and students may select the location most convenient for them. A complete schedule of classes and additional information about The Focus Approach Law Review is available at www.focusapproach.com.
Successful candidates will be invited to spend a day at Pace Law School during which they will attend law school classes, meet faculty members, and have lunch with Dean D'Agostino, Dean for Students. Absent exigent circumstances, students will be required to attend every LSAT session in order to retain eligibility. APPLICATION
Candidates seeking consideration must: (1) prepare a 250 word "expression of interest"; (2) include a letter of recommendation from a faculty member or pre-law advisor, and; (3) attach a copy of their undergraduate transcript. While candidates have wide latitude in the content of their "expression of interest", the Dean's Office is most interested in what drives, motivates, and propels applicants toward the practice of law.

- Harvard Public Policy and Leadership Conference

The Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University is pleased to announce the Tenth Annual Harvard Public Policy and Leadership Conference (PPLC).We are writing to solicit your assistance in publicizing this great opportunity and ask you to forward this letter to the appropriate members of your institution. The PPLC is for first and second year undergraduate students who are interested in pursuing careers in public service. Conference eligibility is limited to college freshman and sophomores who are U.S. citizens or permanent residents.
The PPLC will take place February 18-21, 2010 at the Harvard Kennedy School in Cambridge, Massachusetts. The intensive three days of workshops, panels and lectures is designed for students who possess a commitment to public service, particularly those from historically under-served communities and people of color.
Conference participants will learn about:
- Careers in public service
- Domestic and international policy issues
- Fellowship programs
- Summer public policy and international affairs institutes
- Graduate schools that offer programs in public policy
- Student life
Once accepted, conference participants will receive free travel and room and board. The application for the PPLC is due November 20, 2009.

The Starr Career Development Center is launching the Financial Leadership Program (FLP) beginning in spring 2009. FLP will focus on training students for top financial analyst programs in a variety of firms. This program will replace the Wall Street Careers Program (WSCP), and is part of the Career Development Center's effort to adapt our training to meet the changing economic landscape and better prepare students for employment opportunities.
