Jack Krauskopf Participates on Working Group for New City Comptroller John Liu
James A. (Jack) Krauskopf, distinguished lecturer and director of the Center for Nonprofit Strategy and Management at Baruch College’s School of Public Affairs, was asked in December 2009 to participate on a pivotal government working group, chaired by Chung-Wha Hong of the New York Immigration Coalition to recruit and interview candidates for the position of deputy comptroller for contracts and procurement for New York City. Over a period of four weeks, the working group screened people to recommend to Comptroller John Liu to fill this senior role.
Krauskopf also serves on several other nonprofit organization boards, including the Center for Urban Community Services, United Neighborhood Houses, Citizens’ Committee for Children, and others. He maintains a presence in the nonprofit sector in New York and has done research on contracting relevant to this deputy position. Of his role in the working group, he says he hopes his experience "helps make the comptroller’s office strong and effective in overseeing the City’s contracting and procurement process." Taking part in matters that will affect our city and state, Krauskopf says, is important for CUNY — and Baruch College in particular. "Our students and graduates work in public service. Our faculty is engaged in public issues. We have several centers involved with city and public issues. It’s important for Baruch to be working with the city," he says.
