Event Description:
The race for New York City Mayor is taking place against the backdrop of two critical trends: the fast-evolving use of digital media to engage voters and the increasingly central role of digital startups in the New York economy.

This raises important questions for political and digital media observers.
-- Which candidates have done the best job engaging with New Yorkers through social media?
-- What was the correlation between digital media outreach and Primary Day performance?
-- What does this suggest for the general election?
-- And, finally, what are the digital advocacy lessons for New York business leaders and policymakers?

OPEN TO THE PUBLIC

Digital public affairs specialists Hill + Knowlton Strategies and the Baruch School of Public Affairs invite you to a panel discussion exploring digital media and the 2013 race for New York City Mayor. The discussion will be informed by the H+K Digital Engagement Index, which rates the online performance of the leading candidates for Mayor, and findings from a new Baruch College Survey that explores how New Yorkers use social media to engage with mayoral candidates and public issues.

Speakers will include:
-- Doug Muzzio, Baruch Professor and host of “City Talk,” on CUNY-TV
-- Josh Hendler, Global Chief Technology Officer, Hill + Knowlton Strategies
-- Azi Paybarah, Political Reporter and Blogger, Capital New York

Room 14-220, William and Anita Newman Vertical Campus, 55 Lexington Avenue (at 24th Street). A reception with refreshments will begin at 6pm.
