The event will feature a candid conversation with Seymour P. Lachman, noted historian and former New York State Senator as author of this book, and Lew’s son, William (Bill) C. Rudin, Vice Chairman and CEO of Rudin Management Company, Inc. Discussion will center of the life of Lew Rudin and the remarkable legacy he left for his family, our city and New York’s real estate industry as a whole. A senior member of government will be invited to deliver keynote remarks. Jack S. Nyman, Executive Director of The Newman Real Estate Institute, will provide opening remarks and moderate the program.

Lew Rudin was the co-head of one of New York’s oldest and most respected private real estate dynasties. He was one of New York’s most influential power brokers and one of the greatest and most indefatigable boosters of the city, helping to bail it out several times as it teetered on the brink of fiscal collapse during the 1970’s and again in the early 1990’s.

The event will provide a candid and unique insight into Lew’s life, the Rudin family and the courageous initiatives he took to ensure that the city and its real estate industry not only survive but continue to thrive as a global leader.  Lew founded the nonprofit organization, Association for a Better New York (ABNY) in 1971 in response to growing concerns about the city’s decline. ABNY is a coalition of business, labor, nonprofit and political leaders that has been an important advocate for the economic and cultural vibrancy and prosperity of our city since then.

Presented by The Steven L. Newman Real Estate Institute, the Zicklin School of Business and Real Estate Weekly, in association with ABNY and NYBC.
