Event Description
Franz Kline (1910-1962) created some of the most powerful art of the mid-twentieth century. His monumental black-and-white canvases are internationally celebrated, yet his early work is much less known. This exhibition brings together a survey of Kline's work, illustrating his developement from representational painting to abstract work. It also highlights the importance of his early paintings of Pennsylvania coal country, and how these images of trestle bridges, trains, and coal breaker buildings influenced his later work.

Gallery hours are: Tuesday – Friday, 12 noon – 5 p.m. Thursdays, 12 noon – 7 p.m. All exhibitions at the gallery are free and open to the public.
