Description:

Baruch Performing Arts Center announces the debut of a new concert series of chamber and classical music titled The Concert Meister Series, which will bring the leading principal instrumentalists and concert masters (first chairs, etc.) of the world’s most prestigious orchestras to the small and intimate Engelman Recital Hall for solo, duo and trio concerts, followed by a reception for the audience. The musicians will perform works by their most inspired composers as well as one piece commissioned specifically for the series by the award winning composer Ronn Yedidia, whose compositions have galvanized the attention of performing artists worldwide.

The opening night of the series will take place on Tuesday, November 3rd at 7:30pm with Albena Danailova, the first female concertmaster of The Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra. Ms. Danailova will perform pieces by Beethoven, Bartok and Kriesler with German pianist Julian Riem. The remaining performances in the Fall 2009 season will include concertmasters and principal instrumentalists from the Berlin, New York, and Israel Philharmonic Orchestras.

Guy Braunstein, Violin, Concert Master of the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra, with piano. (Program and pianist tba).

Sun, Nov 22, 2009 @ 4pm
Glenn Dicterow, Violin, Concert Master of the New York Philharmonic Orchestra, with Karen Dreyfus, Viola, and Inbal Segev, Cello (known as The Amerigo Trio) will perform works for string trio by Zoltan Kodaly, Gideon Klein, and Leo Weiner.

Sat, Dec 12, 2009 @ 8pm
Micha Haran, Cello, Principal Cellist of the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra, with concert pianist Xheni Rroji will perform pieces by Schumann, Schubert, Pierre Sancan, and Jan Freidlin.

Fri, Dec 18, 2009 @ 8pm
Roman Spitzer, Principal Violist of the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra, with concert pianist Xheni Rroji will perform pieces by Brahms, among others.
