Description:
A native of Hong Kong, Alec Chien received his bachelors, masters and doctoral degrees from NYC’s Juilliard School of Music and studied under Adele Marcus. Winner of the grand prize at the 1986 Gina Bachauer International Piano Competition and prizewinner of the Sydney International Piano Competition, he has performed throughout the world, earning rave reviews in Australia, Austria, Greece, China and New Zealand, among others. In 1988, he was one of 25 Steinway artists to perform at Carnegie Hall to celebrate the company's 135th anniversary. Mr. Chien is currently a professor of music at Allegheny College in Meadville, Pennsylvania, and returns to perform at Baruch College in the Silberman Concert Series for the second consecutive year.
