Check your Baruch WebMail from web-based e-mail such as Yahoo! Mail

Some third-party services which provide web-based email give you the ability to retrieve email from other accounts via POP. The best known and most popular of these services is Yahoo! Mail. Yahoo! Mail is a free service which anyone can sign up for (available at http://mail.yahoo.com).



Setup Yahoo! Mail to check Baruch WebMail

1.      Login to your Yahoo! e-mail account.

2.      Click Mail Options on the far right of the screen near the top (see below)

3.      Click Check Other (POP) Email near the bottom (see below)

4.      Click [Add Mail Account] (see below)

5.      Under Mail Account Information fill in the fields as follows (see below)

For Mail Server: enter webmail.baruch.cuny.edu

For Username: enter your WebMail username (for example ab123456)

For Password: enter your WebMail password.

For Port Number: leave as is.

PLEASE NOTE:

We strongly recommend that you click to un-check all three (3) boxes next as below:

Leave mail on POP server

Retrieve new messages only

Use filters

We recommend that you do NOT leave your mail on the server because

  • Yahoo! will retrieve the same messages again and again.
  • E-mail left on the server will count against your Baruch WebMail quota

 

7.      Click Save near bottom-left of screen. Yahoo! Mail is now setup to check WebMail.

Check WebMail from Yahoo! Mail (must be setup first)

1.      Login to your Yahoo! e-mail account.

2.      Click webmail.baruch in the upper left-hand corner to retrieve your Baruch WebMail

This will retrieve all the messages from your WebMail account into Yahoo! Mail.
