Help For Students with PIN/password problems for NON-Portal accounts (Baruch Username & eSIMS)
All Baruch students have a “PIN” number which is assigned to them at the beginning of the first semester in which they register. Your Registration "PIN" is a personal identification number, a password which allows you to register at Baruch by computer using eSIMS. You need that same PIN to get access to your Baruch Username for WebMail, Printing, and Wireless & Lab Logins.
- Try your birthday in YYMMDD format.
- Try using the last SIX digits of the STUDENT number (not the Library number) located on the lower left hand corner on your CUNY card.
- If you have changed your Registration PIN, try entering your old PIN.
- If you
changed your PIN to less than six digits, you must add two
zeroes.
Example:
eSIMS PIN 1234Baruch Username password 001234
If you just registered, your Baruch Username may not have been created yet. Please try again the first week of classes.
If you do not know or remember your PIN, or if it does not seem to be working, try these tips in the order they appear below:
ALL STUDENTS:
Try your birthday in YYMMDD format where "YY" is the last two numbers of the year, "MM" is the month and "DD" the day. For example, the birth date July 1, 1975 would translate to a PIN format of "750701", and December 15, 1950 would translate to "501215".
All Social Security codes and PINs are numbers only; they contain no dashes or letters, so be sure to avoid typing in the letter "O" when you need to enter a zero.
Students have the ability to change their Registration PINs. Be aware, however, that WebMail / Printing / Wireless & Lab Login passwords need to be temporarily locked for administrative purposes at certain times, so it is possible that a changed PIN will not update your passwords. If you did change your PIN, first try the newer one as your WebMail / Printing / Wireless & Lab Login password, and then try the older one even if you are positive that you changed it in the Registration system.
Students often change their PIN to a four-digit number that they can easily remember, such as the year of their birth. This is permissible for registration purposes, but since WebMail, Printing, and Wireless & Lab Login passwords must be 6 digits long, these systems add zeros to the beginning of all short PINs. So, if you changed your PIN to "1975", your WebMail, Printing, and Wireless & Lab Login password would be "001975". If you changed your password to five digits, e.g. "12345", you would need to use "012345".
WebMail, Printing, and Wireless & Lab Login are completely independent systems, and if you change your password from within WebMail, the change will not be reflected in any other system. Printing passwords cannot be changed except by Baruch system administrators.
If none of the preceding steps work, you can obtain your PIN by going to the Computing and Technology Help Desk on the 6th floor of the Library building at 151 East 25th St. Bring your CUNY card. Because PINs can be used to make registration changes and are important to the protection of your WebMail, Printing, and Wireless & Lab Login accounts, we are not permitted to release them over the telephone.
