Microsoft Office 2016 Upgrade Plan

Baruch will be undergoing a software upgrade for PC's running Microsoft Office 2013 to Office 2016 over the next several months. This project will affect the entire campus, including faculty and staff offices as well as student computing equipment.

The project will be conducted in phases over several months. Technical Coordinators will be assisting faculty with the upgrade of their machines while BCTC staff will be assisting the students and staff.

BCTC will be working with the various departments to schedule your upgrades. Your department will be contacted with your scheduled date and time for the transition.  BCTC will migrate entire departments at one time keeping all resources together and simplifying the overall process.

The upgrades will be done primarily overnight and on weekends. When necessary, upgrades will be performed during the day. Your current Microsoft Office 2013 files will not be affected by this upgrade.  

The morning after your department has been migrated, the Help Desk will prioritize any calls related to the Office 2016 upgrade. The Desktop Management team will be on hand to address any issues. After the migration, please access your Microsoft Office applications as usual. Your Microsoft Office email, calendar and contacts will remain the same.

All departments in their respective buildings will be contacted the week of to remind them of the upgrade. Please remember to do the following before you leave on the evening of your scheduled upgrade:

For Windows 10 users

  1. Log out of your workstation fully.
  2. This can be accomplished by going to the Start Menu Windows Start Menu selecting the connect icon icon and choosing “Sign Out”.

  3. Leave your PC turned on

For Windows 7 users

  1. Log out of your workstation fully
  2. This can be accomplished by going to the Start Menu startmenu and selecting "Log off"  logoff
  3. Leave your PC turned on
