Qualtrics - Online Survey, Reporting and Analysis Software

The Qualtrics survey software is available to all Baruch College faculty and students for conducting online surveys.

Access to Qualtrics is managed using your Baruch Network Username/Baruch Username and password. This Username/Password combination is the same one used for computer or wireless log in at Baruch College. If you have any difficulty with your log in, contact the BCTC Help Desk at 646-312-1010, or helpdesk@baruch.cuny.edu.

Logging in to Qualtrics:

  1. Go to baruch.qualtrics.com (do not set up a free account at www.qualtrics.com!)
  2. Enter your Network Username/Baruch Username and password. Your Username/Password combination is the same one used for computer or wireless log in at Baruch College.
  3. If this is your first time accessing Qualtrics you will be asked if you already have an account. Select "I don't have a Qualtrics account" and you will be directed to your survey control panel. If you have logged into Qualtrics previously using your Network Username you will be taken directly to your survey control panel.
  4. Click on “Create Survey” or “Click here to create your first survey!”
  5. Click on the “Quick Survey Builder” (recommended approach) to begin creating your survey.

Qualtrics Insights Platform

Qualtrics will be transitioning to its Insights Platform on June 28, 2016.  Below is a summary of things that are different with links to a more in depth overview.

What’s Different?

  • My Surveys – The My Projects landing page replaces the old My Surveys page. To help streamline navigation, Qualtrics has separated Projects, Contacts, and Libraries and moved them to the upper right-hand corner. These sections are visible from every screen, allowing you to easily move between functions from anywhere within the platform. We’ve also made other layout adjustments throughout the page.
  • Edit Survey – The Survey module replaces the Edit Survey tab. Most of the changes here are cosmetic.
  • Distribute Survey – Qualtrics has completely re-envisioned the Distribute Survey tab as the Distributions module. The first time you enter this module for a new survey, you'll be prompted to choose your distribution channel (email, web, etc.). Choosing a method activates your survey and brings you to the option tab for that method. Each method has its own sidebar tab, and all relating actions are self-contained within that tab. After choosing your channel the first time, your Distributions module will remain in the tab view and you can distribute your survey through any other desired channels. Additionally, we’ve combined and relabeled some of the distribution options.
  • View Results – The Data & Analysis and Reports modules replace the View Results tab.
    • From Data & Analysis, you can view, manage, analyze, and export your individual response entries.
    • From Reports, you can visualize, explore, and report on your aggregate data.
  • Panels – Panels have been relabeled Contacts, and most changes here are to the layout. Qualtrics has rearranged a few things to make it easier to view and manage your contacts.
  • Library – The Library section has been  simplified and enhanced to make organization and management easier and more intuitive.

To get to the Qualtrics Insights Platform:

  1. Sign into Qualtrics as usual
  2. Select your user name in the upper right corner. A drop-down menu will appear
  3. Select “Experience the Qualtrics Insights Platform”
  4. Experience the Qualtrics Insights Platform

  5. You can always go back to the old Qualtrics interface (until Jun 28, 2016) by selecting “ Leave the Qualtrics Insights Platform”

Transferring Your Baruch-affiliated Qualtrics Account to an External Qualtrics Account

If you use the Qualtrics service while at Baruch to conduct research and leave the College you may coordinate the transfer of your surveys and data to an external account. To do so contact Keisha Peterson at the Baruch Human Research Protection Program (HRPP) to discuss and complete a Data Use Agreement. Once the Baruch HRPP confirms the decision on use, the Baruch Computing and Technology Center Help Desk may coordinate the Qualtrics account migration per the decision of the HRPP.
