Microsoft Office for Students

Posted on October 15, 2014.

Dear Students,

CUNY and Baruch College, in conjunction with Microsoft, are pleased to announce Microsoft Office software is immediately available to all current Baruch students for free. What this means is you will now be able to install the complete Office suite, including Word, Powerpoint, Excel, Access and more on your personal devices without cost to you. Students are able to install the software in any 5 devices of their choosing using their BaruchMail account, powered by Office365.

Included with this offering is mobile software access on most common devices. This includes iPhones, iPads and Android phones and tablets. Now, you will be able to manage your documents while mobile.

For more information on this, you can visit the BaruchMail page and click on Software:

http://www.baruch.cuny.edu/bctc/baruchmail/

Included is a listing of what software applications you have available to you for both a regular workstation and a mobile device, as well as installation instructions. Please be advised - as a campus, we are standardized around Microsoft Office 2010 (Office 2011 for Mac users) for compatibility reasons. Microsoft Office 2010 is also available via this offering for PC users. It is suggested you install Microsoft Office 2010 for maximum compatibility with your courses.

Who Has Access?

As mentioned previously, any currently enrolled student will be able to access the service. What this means is you must be taking at least one credit for the current semester.

Support Resources

Microsoft also provides support information for those with additional questions:

The BCTC Help Desk will be able to troubleshoot any issues with your account. The Help Desk will be unable to provide support for student's personal computers, such as installation and setup issues.

If you have any further questions about this offering, please feel free to reach out to our BCTC Help Desk for answers.

Please be sure to explore our other student services, if you have not done so already: http://www.baruch.cuny.edu/bctc/student
