    Digital Media Library (DML)

    About the DML

The Digital Media Library (DML) serves as a central repository for digital media produced by and for Baruch College. The project was initiated in early 2004 as a collaborative effort between Baruch College’s Newman Library and the Baruch Computing and Technology Center (BCTC) spearheaded by Arthur Downing, Chief Librarian and Chief Information Officer. The purpose of the project is to provide a fully searchable, single point of online access to the digital multimedia resources Baruch College produces.

    Browsing for Content

Digital Media Library resources are currently brought together under some of the following broad categories reflecting different schools and initiatives at Baruch College:

    • Arts and Sciences: Media originating from or relating to the Weissman School of Arts and Sciences
    • Baruch Community: Media relating to the college as a whole, such as commencement ceremonies and library resources
    • Business*: Media originating from or relating to the Zicklin School of Business
    • Centers and Institutes*: Media originating from or relating to the various independent centers and institutes at Baruch College
    • Public Affairs: Media related to or produced by the Marxe School of Public and International Affairs

    * If you are browsing for business-related information, do not limit your browsing to the Business category. Look also in the Centers & Institutes category, as many of the items there are business-related, but not necessarily affiliated with the Zicklin School. Many items are cross-listed under different categories to provide better access, however some are not.

    Submitting Media to the DML

Baruch departments and faculty are encouraged to submit media to the Digital Media Library. If you have a video of an event or lecture, or an audio recording you would like to share, we will convert the material to a digital format, catalog it and post it to the DML.

The process is simple. Just complete an online form and deliver the media (whether on CD, videotape, cassette or other media) to the Instructional Technology Department.

Once we receive the material, we’ll take care of the conversion and send it to the library so it can be catalogued.

Requests requiring a videographer for the Digital Media Library (DML) must be placed at least 10 business days in advance.

Consent forms are required from all persons speaking in front of the camera, including students, with the exception of CUNY employees before posting to the DML. To download a copy of the consent form.
