Combine (Merge) Sections through the Control Panel Using the Merge Module

The Merge Module command available in the Control Panel allows you to combine the rosters of multiple class sections into one Blackboard course site.

To Merge Two or More Course Sections into One:

  • Access the control panel of the course you want to merge into - the main course, called the Parent, which can be thought of as the umbrella or container that holds the other courses.
  • Select Instructor Course Merge Module from the Course Tools section of the Control Panel.

Important Tips about merging courses:

  • Select Add Sections to Parent Course.  The Course Rosters of your current courses are listed.
  • Select
  • You must be an Instructor in all the courses you would like to merge.
  • Courses can only be merged with one Parent course.
  • Click Add Sections to Parent Course.

  • Select the course or courses you want to merge into your parent course, and click Submit.
  • You will receive a confirmation receipt that your course section has been added to the Parent course.

hide course

  • The List/Modify Merged Course Properties feature of the tool includes a Hide Course option, which can be used if a course site is not needed after it is merged with a Parent Course.
  • If you want to separate your merged courses, you can do by selecting Remove sections from Parent Course.
