What's New in Blackboard 6.3: Copy & Move Your Course Content > Back to Blackboard 6.3 Support Page
Blackboard 6.3 allows you to copy all of your course
content over from previous semesters into the course site
for the current semester. If you teach the same course often,
this feature can save you time and effort by allowing you
to reuse materials.
To Copy your Course Materials from Previous Semesters:
- Access the old course that you want to copy in the Blackboard search tool.
- Click the Control Panel menu item in the Course Menu.
- You
will see the Control Panel options. Locate the Course Options menu (third box down on the left).

- Click the Course Copy option, at the top right of the Course Options menu.
- Select the link Copy Course Materials into an Existing Course.

- In the box called "Destination Course ID," type in the Course ID (e.g., BB_BUS_9303_9660_TR73_200702) of your next semester's course to which you wish to copy content. You can also click Browse to search for your Destination Course by ID#, Instructor, or Title. If you browse, remember to press the Select button to the right of the destination course.
- Select the Course Material sections that you want to copy over by clicking in the check boxes beside their names. *Do not copy course enrollments or last semester's students will be added to next semester's course.
- Click the Submit button on the lower right of the screen to complete the copy.
- You will receive a confirmation sent to the email registered in the Blackboard system when the operation is complete.
You can also copy individual files and move those files within and between your Blackboard courses. For example, if you have a Word document that you want to use in more than one course, you can simply copy that file and move it to your other course site.
To Copy and Move Individual Files Within and Between Blackboard Course Sites:
- Click on the area of the course that contains the document you want to copy in the Course Menu.
- In the upper right-hand corner, click the Edit View link to move into editing mode.
- Once you have located the file, click the Copy button to the left of the file name.

- Select the Destination Course that you want to receive the copy of the file from the pulldown menu. Click on the Browse button to copy the document into a specific area of your course.
- If you want to keep the original item in the course, make sure the "no" radio button is selected in "Remove item after copy".

- Click
the Browse button beside the Destination Folder text box
to select the exact folder where you want the copy to reside,
and click Submit to complete the copy process.
