Create a Syllabus in Blackboard using Syllabus Builder > Return to Blackboard 6.3 FAQ's

One can add a syllabus to any content area in Blackboard.  To add a syllabus, click on "Edit View" in the right-hand corner of the content area window.

  • Select the pull-down window, release your mouse on Syllabus, and click on the Go button.

Build Syllabus

  • Add a syllabus title and build your syllabus in Blackboard or upload a syllabus from your computer, disk, etc.  Click the Submit button to upload content.

  • The Syllabus Builder walks the user through three main 'sections' of the syllabus:  "Description", "Learning Objectives" and "Required Materials".  Any of these titles can be changed.  You can present only three main sections in the Syllabus Builder template - the title headings presented can be changed. You can also choose syllabus template colors and backgrounds.  Next, if you would like to present your syllabus as Lessons, select this option and the number of Lessons you would like to present.

  • Click the Submit button and see your Syllabus template displayed.  Change the Syllabus content and Lesson content by clicking on the Modify buttons.

  • Enter Lesson content in each lesson section.  Lesson order can also be rearranged as needed.  You can pick a start and stop date if you want to release lessons throughout the semester.

Edit the Lesson Window

  • Click Submit and visit the section of your course where you created the Syllabus.  For example, the below image is in the "Documents" section.
