Request Form for Courses

(Adding Users and Teaching Assistants to Courses)

The purpose of these directions are to explain how to request a user be added to an existing Blackboard course, and be granted access and certain privileges, rights and responsibilities to that course. It becomes the responsibility of the requesting faculty member to monitor the activities of this user. By submitting this form you are agreeing to the aforementioned. Acquired and or distributed information concerning student information for purposes other than official College business violates federal regulations governing students right to privacy. Send e-mail to helpdesk@baruch.cuny.edu including the following information:

  • Requesting Faculty Name: 
  • Requesting Faculty Baruch E-mail Address: 
  • Course ID with section number  
    (Example
  • Semester
  • Today’s Date
  • Whether or not you are  the instructor of record on BCLN.
  • User full name to be added to this course
  • User e-mail address
  • User phone number
  • Users access level.

If the person to be added to the course does not have a known association with Baruch (faculty, staff or student) BCTC will contact that user for personal information necessary to create a CUNY portal account.

As the instructor/requester, you will be notified by e-mail concerning the status of your request.

Access Levels

Instructor
Professors have master access over the course functions. This includes grading assessments, changing grades, assigning students into study groups, deleting items, and publishing tests. This name is visible to the students as an official instructor.

Teaching Assistant
Teaching Assistants are enrolled into the course with a combination of development responsibilities. This includes the ability to develop test questions, verify grades, manage users and many others.

Grader
The Grader access only permits access to the gradebook.

Course Builder
Course builders have access to all course functions except the gradebook.

Student
Enrolled students have access to all areas in the course that contain content and assessments. Enrollments are updated every evening.  *Students can only be added by written request to the BlackBoard faculty support administrator, Michelle_Chan@baruch.cuny.edu .

Guest
Guests may enter the course and browse most components. Course instructors must choose to make course areas available to guests or not.
