Add an Assignment Area in Blackboard 8:

The Assignment feature lets you create an assignment area for your students to upload their assignments (e.g., Microsoft Word Files), which you can then view or download for later viewing.

Note: this tool replaces the digital drop box in the latest version of Blackboard.  The tool works automatically with the Grade Center and allows for more grading features.

1.    Go to the Control Panel in your course.

  1. In the Content Areas box (in upper left) choose the Content Area link where you want the assignment added (e.g., Course Documents, Syllabus, Assignments).

1

3. Select “Assignment” from the 2 Select: drop-down menu to the right.

4
4. Click on the 5 button.

5. Provide a name for the Assignment and other information about it.

Note: You probably will not need to use the file attachment feature, which is only useful if you want to provide extra file relevant to the assignment for students to peruse.

6. Scroll down to the bottom of the screen and click on the Submit button.

The students will now be able to upload assignments (e.g., Microsoft Word files) to the Assignment.
