Mentoring Program - Feedback

Student

To learn about corporate environment, culture, and to get advice which could help me to form my career choices.

Mentor Vivek Thakur

As a student I have experienced the need to talk to somebody who can give insight/guidelines into a particular industry and that can help in deciding the career choice that a student has to make. I believe that giving a student insight into the 'real world' will serve the student well and help to influence his career choices and future education. As a student, especially in the later years, I always felt the need to have a mentor and today if I can be a position to be a mentor for somebody, I would definitely be interested since my education & work experience have been in diverse fields.

Mentor

I have a strong desire to give back to the CUNY community, and I feel my work experiences both in and out of college would be beneficial for someone looking to apply concepts learned as an undergrad in the 'real world'.

Student

I would like to be in touch with and learn from an individual who has experience, passion and excitement in the psychology field in order for me to better serve the community through the field of psychology.

Student

I wish to have a better understanding of the day-to-day work world and to gain the necessary experience to succeed in the field. I want to be a marketing director for a school that my friend and I plan to establish ten years from now. I wish this experience would help me to achieve or at least put me on the right path toward achieving this goal.

Mentor Mariana Ramirez

I would enjoy providing assistance and guidance to a student. I believe that the transition into the professional arena is a lot easier if you have someone that can provide insights and can advise you of the real situation you will be experiencing once out of school. I did not have the opportunity of having a mentor while in school. It definitely would have been a positive experience. Today, I want to give someone the chance of having a mentor.

Mentor

Provide the bounty of 40 years of experience to deserving students to make their lives / career paths a little easier to navigate than mine

Student

To get a good idea of what awaits me at the end of college in terms of a career. I wish to get firsthand experience of what it is like to work in the field that I have chosen in college and use the mentoring to guide my job search as well as on-the-job work.

Mentor Mariana Ramirez

I love sharing ideas and helping people discover their potential. It is very satisfying to develop individuals and simultaneously learn at the same time. I can offer my academic and work experiences to guide students to avoid pitfalls that might set them back. I can also advise students on how to advance their careers and personal lives as well

Student

My goals by joining this program are to acquire better knowledge in my field and be able to understand the hardships and dilemmas, which I will face in my career. Also, I want to be able to realize and fulfill what employers are really looking for in a candidate and learn what qualities I need to obtain/improve upon to make myself a good candidate for any job.

Mentor

I believe that my career path might have been smoother if I had been 'blessed' with a mentor to assist me in my career decisions previously. I have learnt a lot from making bad and good decisions and believe that I can impart these experiences

Mentor

Having been a mentor for several years, I realize the benefits of making a difference in the life of someone. The youth today are challenged on many levels, socially, economically, spiritually etc. If they do not have any form of support, they fall through the cracks and we who have survived the trials of this life would have failed if we did not even provide the support of our presence.

Student

I hope to meet someone who can answer my questions about the job field and all that is required to be successful. I have many uncertainties that can only be resolved by someone with experience in the job field.
