IT’S MEMBERSHIP RENEWAL TIME

For over 40-years, members of the Baruch College Alumni Association have known that one of the many advantages of a good education is the power to give back. Your alumni association depends on graduates like you to support the Baruch community for many more years to come. It is so easy to make a difference! Annual membership dues enable very important funding initiatives. For example, the Baruch College Alumni Association has pledged $100,000 to support Baruch College ’s Class Act Campaign. The Class Act campaign is designed to help provide access and opportunity to over 18,000 students. Gifts go directly to support scholarships, student career services, student activities and programs, The Newman Library and faculty research. Plus, the prestigious Starr Foundation is matching this gift with an additional $100,000 donation! As you may know, our commitment does not end at graduation. Alumni members enjoy access to career development opportunities, professional networking events, a dedicated computer room, social activities and much more. TAKE A CLASS THIS SUMMER

Members of the Baruch College Alumni Association receive a 15% tuition discount for Baruch ’s Continuing & Professional Studies Program. Take advantage of individual classes or become certified by taking a series of classes in business, real estate, bookkeeping, human resources and information technology. VISIT BARUCH’S MISHKIN GALLERY

Everyone Will Be Famous For 15 Minutes: Andy Warhol's Photographs" open now through May 22. From 1970 to 1985, Andy Warhol took thousands of Polaroid photographs mostly with his Polaroid Big Shot plastic camera. He photographed people both famous and unknown, viewing all these images as his "sketches" or source material for future paintings and prints.
The photos were acquired by the gallery via a grant from the Warhol Foundation and are part of the Andy Warhol Photographic Legacy Project. Never before seen by the public, these images provide an intimate glimpse into the mind of a celebrated artist at work. Admission is free! SAVE THE DATE: THE NEW YORK PHILHARMONIC WORLD PREMIERE OF CHINESE COMPOSER TAN DUN

Join us for this very special evening with the extraordinary Tan Dun. Hewill be accompanied pianist Lang Lang, and conducted by Leonard Slatkin, as they perform Stravinsky's Fire Bird. Come early to hear Tan Dun and Lang Lang discuss their creative process. This is also a great opportunity to mingle and reconnect with other alums. Date: Wednesday, April 9, 2008. Time:  6:30 PM. SAVE THE DATE: THE BROADWAY PRESENTATION OF MAMMA MIA! – Over 30 million people all around the world have fallen in love with the characters, the story and the music of Mamma Mia! The story unfolds on a Greek island paradise. On the eve of her wedding, a daughter's quest to discover the identity of her father brings three men from her mother's past back to the island they last visited twenty years ago. The timeless magic of songs by ABBA propels this enchanting tale of love, laughter and friendship. Join us! THE BARUCH COLLEGE ALUMNI ASSOCIATION ANNOUNCES A MAJOR GIFT

The Board of Directors of the Baruch College Alumni Association announced a pledge of $100,000 to support Baruch College’s Class Act campaign. Furthermore, The Starr Foundation will match BCAA’s gift with an additional $100,000 donation.

The Class Act campaign is designed to help provide access and opportunity to 15,700 Baruch College students. Gifts go directly to support scholarships, student career services, student activities and programs, The William and Anita Newman Library and faculty research. In return, benefactors are given the opportunity to name a classroom or other space at Baruch's
17-floor, award-winning William and Anita Newman Vertical Campus and the Information and Technology Building.

For over thirty-eight years, the members of the Baruch College Alumni Association have been partners in supporting the students, faculty and alumni of Baruch College. Edith W. Mackey, President of the Baruch College Alumni Association stated: “On behalf of our dedicated Board of Directors, volunteers and members, we are delighted to have this additional opportunity to further a distinguished legacy of alumni giving. One of the many rewards of a Baruch education is knowing how important it is to give back and make a difference whenever possible. I hope that this gift will inspire many more to join us”.

The Starr Foundation was established in 1955 by Cornelius Vander Starr, founder of American International Group, Inc. He died in 1968 at the age of 76, leaving his estate to the Foundation. Today the Starr Foundation has assets of approximately $3 billion and is one of the largest private foundations in the United States. In keeping with Mr. Starr's wishes the Foundation supports education, cultural institutions, medicine and healthcare, human needs, public policy, and the environment. In the 50 years since its establishment, the Foundation has given more than $1 billion to non-profit organizations in New York City.
