Total Resignation (Course Withdrawal)

Course Withdrawal

Courses dropped officially during the first three weeks of classes of the Fall or Spring semester, or during the first two weeks of each Summer session do not appear on the student's transcript and carry no academic penalty. Courses dropped during the next seven weeks appear on your transcript with W (Withdrawal) grades.

Students who drop a course during the first three weeks of classes of the Fall or Spring semester should refer to the Schedule of Classes or contact the Registrar's Office regarding tuition refunds.

Students can complete the application to resign from a course at the Center for Advisement and Orientation or at the Registrar's Office.

The following courses may not be dropped without the approval of the Center for Advisement and Orientation:

  1. A non-credit-bearing course in English - ENG 0132
  2. A non-credit-bearing course in Mathematics - CSTM 0120 or MTH 1030
  3. Math 2001, 2206, 2301, 2201, 2207, or 2610
Please note:
  1. Check the academic calendar in the Schedule of Classes for the last date to drop a course.
  2. Refer to the Summer Session Schedule of Classes for the last date to drop a course and tuition refunds calendar.
  3. If you plan to resign from a course, do so promptly since the instructor may assign a grade of WF (poor scholarship) or WU (excess absence). Either grade is a failing grade.
  4. Students who have received permission to carry a credit overload may not drop any courses.
  5. International students must receive permission from the International Students Office if dropping a course will affect their full-time status (must carry a minimum of 12 equated credits).
  6. If you must withdraw from a course after the tenth week of classes, consult the Center for Advisement and Orientation.

Total Resignation (Program Drop)

A student may withdraw from the College by dropping all courses during the first ten weeks of classes. After the third week 'W' (Withdrawal) grades will be given. 'W' grades carry no academic penalty.

First-semester freshmen and first-semester transfer students who drop all their courses during the first three weeks of the semester must apply again for admission with the Admissions Office. Other students who withdraw from the College must apply for re-entry at the Registrar's Office prior to future registrations. Consult the Schedule of Classes for the deadlines for filing for re-entry.

Please note the following:

  1. In order to withdraw from all classes, students must see an advisor in the Center for Advisement and Orientation. SEEK students must see their SEEK counselor.
  2. The withdrawal is not official unless it is approved by the Center for Advisement and Orientation.
  3. If you have any questions regarding course withdrawal or total resignation, contact the Center for Advisement and Orientation.
  4. If you must withdraw from the College after the tenth week of classes, consult the Center for Advisement and Orientation.
  5. Applications for Total Resignation are available at the Registrar's Office and at the Center for Advisement and Orientation.
  6. Check the academic calendar in the Schedule of Classes for the deadline to resign from a class.
