 I started Baruch as a Freshman before Fall 2001

Freshman Year:

  1. Attended freshmen orientation
  2. Completed Freshmen Seminar, if not see Veronica Ingram-Henry in Student Life
  3. Joined a club? Visit the 'Student Life' website.
  4. Completed ENG 2100 and ENG 2150
  5. Completed your math requirement
  6. Reviewed your transcripts for the following:
    1. Are you on the Dean's List?
    2. Are you on academic probation? See Undergraduate Bulletin for Academic Probation Policies. You may also come to the Center for Advisement and Orientation and see an Advisor.
Sophomore Year:
  1. Begin registering for electives. Have you thought about a minor?
    Note: From your Elective credits, you will fulfill your Minor Requirement.
  2. How did you do your first semester?  Review your transcript.
  3. Start thinking about your major. Here are some things you can do:
    1. Take a Strong Interest Inventory Test online, which will help you determine your academic interests, strengths, and weaknesses. Visit the Starr Career Development Center website.
    2. Start thinking about major(s) you are interested in learning more about.
    3. Consider internship opportunities. An internship gives you real-life experience in an area in which you may eventually major in, and may also help you pursue a career in that area. Visit the Starr Career Development Center website.
    4. Consider the Study Abroad   program during your junior year.
  4. Take and Pass SimNet Assessment Exam.
  5. Take and pass the CPE exam - Contact the Testing and Evaluation Office
Junior Year:
  1. Declare your official major!
  2. Submit the Eligibility Review For Your Major. . If you wish to declare any other major at Baruch College, you must report to the faculty advisor in the respective department.
  3. Start taking courses in your Minor/Minor Alternative?
Senior Year:
  1. Sign up for on-campus recruitment and workshops?
  2. To be aware how your courses are fulfilling your degree requirements, see an advisor at the Center for advisement and Orientation.
  3. File for graduation? Must apply for graduation at Registrar's Office! Review the Schedule of Classes for the Deadline dates!

 I started Baruch as a Freshmen Fall 2001 or after

  1. Dropping a course? Watch the drop deadline! (see schedule of classes for up-to-date deadline information) To officially withdraw from a course, you MUST see an advisor at the Center for Advisement and Orientation.
  2. Start checking off courses included in your block program on your core curriculum sheet you received during orientation . When you pass these courses, write down the semester in which you took the course, and the grade. At that point, you can check off that course in pen.
  3. Start thinking about what you wish to take next semester, choosing courses from Tier 1 and Tier 2.
  4. Take and Pass SimNet Assessment Exam. - Contact the Office of Testing and Evaluation
  5. You will take a Strong Interest Inventory Test online, which will help you determine your academic interests, strengths, and weaknesses. This test will be followed up with workshops, where your test results will be interpreted for you to further help you determine eventual major and minor choices. Your registration date will be affected depending upon whether or not you attend these workshops. There will also be a Majors/Minors fair, which you will need to attend.   6. Start thinking about which degree program you may wish to enter - as there are additional requirements separate from the core curriculum for each school.
Sophomore Year:
  1. Start thinking about major(s) you are interested in learning more about.
  2. To be aware how your courses are fulfilling your degree requirements, log onto DegreeWorks Audit.
  3. Start thinking about major(s) you are interested in learning more about.

Entering Student:

  1. You attended Transfer Orientation
  2. Received your preliminary evaluation and/or your Official Evaluation from the Office of the Registrar.
  3. Arranged to have previous colleges send official transcripts to Baruch College's Registrar's office.
  4. Turned in all required immunization and residency forms.
  5. Registered for courses chosen from the "you need" column on your preliminary evaluation having met the pre-requisites.
  6. Take and Pass SimNet Assessment Exam
Continuing Student:
  1. Review your transcript from your first semester
  2. Take and Pass SimNet Assessment Exam.
  3. Review your Baruch College transcript and check for the following:
    1. Did you make the Dean's List?
    2. Are you on academic probation? See Undergraduate Bulletin for Academic Probation Policies. You may also come to the Center for Advisement and Orientation and see an Advisor.
  4. Start thinking about major(s) you are interested in learning more about. (If still undecided, find out more.)

  6. Reviewed the Core Curriculum and the requirements needed for each of Baruch's three schools: Weissman School of Arts and Sciences, School of Public Affairs and Zicklin School of Business. Eligibility Review For Your Major.
  7. Registered for courses chosen from your Program Planning forms you reviewed with an academic advisor.
  8. Arranged to have previous colleges send official transcripts to Baruch College's registrar's office.
  9. Turned in all required immunization and residency forms.
  10. Take and Pass SimNet Assessment Exam.
Continuing Student:
  1. Continue to register for those courses from the Core Curriculum, including Tier 3, pre-business or pre-spa courses. Remember to check all courses pre-requisites.
  2. If your evaluation is complete, contact the Center for Advisement and Orientation to schedule an appointment to review your evaluation and complete an worksheet.
  3. Take and Pass SimNet Assessment Exam.
