Who is eligible to apply to the Baruch Leadership Academy?

Rising 10th, 11th, and 12th grade students from around the world are eligible to apply to the Baruch Leadership Academy.

When will I hear from the Admissions Office about my application status?

Competitive admissions are reviewed on a rolling admissions basis. Students will receive an admissions decision via postal mail within four weeks after their application file is complete.

Will participation at the Academy help me get into Baruch College when I apply for undergraduate admission?

Attending the Academy will help a student’s application stand out as it is an intensive extracurricular activity. Students who complete the Academy receive a letter of recommendation, which can be submitted when applying to Baruch College or any other institution.

Do students need to send in all their application components at once?

Applications are reviewed once all application components have been received. It is recommended that students send in all of their application components at once. Students are encouraged to complete the online application and essay prior to mailing in the supplemental materials.

Are scholarships available?

Internal Funding

A limited number of need-based, partial scholarships are granted based upon demonstrated financial need. In order to be considered for a scholarship, students must submit an application and an essay for Academy. Once submitted, email academy@baruch.cuny.edu for more information.

External Funding

High school students seeking financial aid may consider applying to Baruch Leadership Academy through Wishbone. Wishbone is a nonprofit organization that helps high school students with limited financial resources pursue their passion by helping them attend high-quality summer programs. 

To qualify, you must apply to Wishbone by December 18, 2015. Applicants must be eligible for the Federal Free or Reduced Price Lunch Program, and live in one of the following regions: New York City, Connecticut, SF Bay Area, or Los Angeles.

Where is the Academy?

The Academy takes place at Baruch College's midtown Manhattan campus. The College's Vertical Campus, located on 24th Street and Lexington Avenue is the headquarters for our Academy classrooms.

What do I need to bring to the Academy?

All course materials and books are provided to students at the Academy.

Does the Academy provide daily lunch?

Lunch is provided on Thursday & Friday. Students have free time to eat lunch at one of our neighboring establishments or at our campus dining hall on Monday - Wednesday.
