Baruch College to Host an Evening with Israeli Artist Yehuda Levy-Aldema

NEW YORK, NY - October 29, 2015 - The Wasserman Jewish Studies Center, located in the Weissman School of Arts and Sciences at Baruch College will host an evening with Israeli artist Yehuda Levy-Aldema. “‘Not by Words Alone’: A Visual Beit-Midrash: A unique way to Explore Biblical Text through Language and Image” will be held on Tuesday, November 3 at 5:30 p.m. This event is free and open to the public.

Program Description: How do we read art? How do we imagine text? During this talk, Israeli artist Yehuda Levy-Aldema will unravel the complex relationship between image and word. In works such as The Binding of Isaac The Magical Circle of Uncertainty (2010-2013) and The Days of Creation (2013), he has explored iconic biblical texts transmitted through countless generations. With deftness and subtlety, his art engages the audience with thought-provoking visual accompaniments associated with some of history’s most studied and enigmatic narratives. A native of Jerusalem, Yehuda Levy Aldema has been working as an artist in a variety of media since 1982.
