NEW YORK, NY - October 13, 2016 -—Baruch College will present a reading and conversation with novelist and food essayist Monique Truong, the Fall 2016 Sidney Harman Writer-in-Residence, on Tuesday, October 18. This event is free and open to the public. A reception will be held prior to the start of the event.

Truong’s highly acclaimed first novel, The Book of Salt, was a national bestseller and a New York Times Notable Fiction book. She is the recipient of the New York Public Library Young Lions Fiction Award. Her second novel Bitter in the Mouth was the recipient of the American Academy of Arts and Letters’ Rosenthal Family Foundation Award. In 2015, she was a U.S.-Japan Creative Artists Fellow. Truong is a graduate of Yale University and Columbia Law School. She will be reading excerpts from her novels The Book of Salt and Bitter in the Mouth.
